Commissioning Checks Completed by Sana Ventures

During commissioning, our technical team carried out systematic checks to confirm safe and efficient operation of the heat pump.

  • Electrical supply voltage checked: approximately 220–223.5 V was recorded during testing.
  • Running current checked: operating current readings around 4.8–5.0 A were observed during heat-pump operation.
  • Electrical terminals, phase, neutral and earthing connections were inspected.
  • Outdoor heat-pump unit operation was verified.
  • Refrigeration pressure was checked using a pressure gauge.
  • Refrigerant piping and connections were inspected.
  • Hot-water tank inlet and outlet plumbing connections were checked.
  • Water circulation arrangement and circulation pump operation were inspected.
  • Controller/display operation and temperature settings were verified.
  • Complete system trial run was carried out before final commissioning.

The readings recorded during the commissioning process help confirm that the electrical supply and heat-pump section are operating within an appropriate range for the installed equipment.

Proper Electrical Testing for Safe Operation

One of the important steps during this commissioning was checking the incoming power supply and operating current using a True RMS clamp meter.

The site voltage was measured at approximately 220–223.5 V, which is suitable for the unit's specified 220V / 50Hz power supply.

Current consumption was also checked while the system was operating. This type of commissioning test is important because abnormal voltage or current can indicate problems such as incorrect wiring, loose terminals, compressor overload, low voltage or other electrical issues.

By checking these parameters during commissioning, Sana Ventures ensures the equipment is placed into service under proper operating conditions.

Refrigeration System Inspection

Since this is a split heat pump system, the outdoor unit and storage tank operate as an integrated refrigeration and water-heating system.

The A.O. Smith HPA-C1.5AE outdoor unit uses R134a refrigerant with a specified charge of 940 g. During commissioning, the refrigeration circuit and operating pressure were checked to confirm system performance.

Correct refrigerant operation is essential for efficient heat transfer from the surrounding air into the stored water.

300-Litre Hot Water Storage Tank

The installation includes a large 300L insulated hot-water storage tank, making the system suitable for locations requiring a substantial quantity of hot water.

The tank is connected with dedicated cold-water inlet and hot-water outlet piping, while the installation also incorporates the necessary circulation plumbing for effective hot-water distribution.

The completed installation was checked for:

Water flow → circulation → heat-pump operation → storage tank heating → hot-water delivery

This ensures the complete system works as one integrated hot-water solution.

Why Choose a Heat Pump Water Heater?

Unlike a conventional electric geyser that mainly converts electricity directly into heat, a heat pump transfers heat available in the surrounding air to the water.

This makes heat-pump technology particularly attractive for properties with regular or high hot-water consumption.

Key advantages include energy-efficient water heating, large-volume hot-water availability, reduced dependency on conventional electric heating, automatic temperature control and suitability for year-round operation.

The 300L split configuration also allows the outdoor heat-pump unit to be positioned separately from the storage tank, providing greater flexibility during installation.

Successful Trial Run & Commissioning

After completing the electrical, plumbing, refrigeration and controller checks, the A.O. Smith heat pump was put through a complete trial run.

The system responded correctly, electrical parameters were checked, circulation was verified and the unit was successfully commissioned.
